When to hire a branding agencyWhen to hire a branding agency

The best reason to rebrand is change, not boredom

  • A new business needs a credible first identity

You need to look established before you've had years to build recognition, with enough structure to launch your website, sales and marketing together.

  • The business has outgrown its old look

Your offer, audience or price point has moved on, but the identity still signals an earlier version of the company.

  • Every team makes its own version

Slides, social posts, landing pages and proposals drift apart because there are assets but no practical system for using them.

Do you need a full rebrand, or just tighter brand guidelines?

We review your current identity, show where consistency or distinctiveness breaks down, and tell you what we'd keep before suggesting anything to change.

Branding, logo design and brand identity

The questions UK businesses usually ask before a new identity or rebrand begins.

Usually a brand strategy and a visual identity: logo system, colour palette, typography, imagery direction and layout rules, documented in brand guidelines. Depending on scope we also cover positioning, tone of voice and real applications such as your website, pitch deck and social templates, so the identity works day to day rather than only in the launch presentation.

No. A logo is one recognisable asset. Branding covers the wider system: what the business stands for, how it speaks and how the visual identity behaves on every touchpoint. A strong logo inside a weak system still leaves your website, proposals and ads looking inconsistent, which is why we usually design the two together.

Sometimes. A standalone logo project makes sense when your colours, typography and visual rules already work and only the mark needs replacing. If those are missing too, a new logo on its own rarely fixes the problem, so we'll tell you honestly whether a logo-only brief or a fuller brand identity project is the better spend.

Yes. A rebrand doesn't have to mean starting from scratch. If your logo has real recognition, we can refine it and build a clearer system of typography, colour, layout, imagery and messaging around it. That protects the equity you've built with customers while fixing the inconsistency that made you consider a rebrand.

Brand guidelines, sometimes called a brand book, explain how your identity should be used. They typically cover logo versions, clear space, colours, typography, imagery, layout and tone of voice, with examples of what to do and what to avoid. We write them for everyday use, so your marketing team, sales staff and outside suppliers can get it right without asking every time.

A good logo is simple enough to recognise at a glance, works at both large and tiny sizes and still holds up in a single colour. It should suit the character of your business and stand apart from competitors rather than follow a trend. That is why our logo design service delivers a family of primary logo, compact version and symbol, so it works everywhere from a shop sign to a favicon.

A graphic designer usually produces individual pieces, such as a logo or a brochure. A branding agency starts earlier: it defines what your business stands for and who it is for, then builds a complete brand identity around that, with logo, colours, typography, tone of voice and guidelines. As a web design agency we also make sure the identity works on your website from day one.

A focused brand identity project typically runs four to six weeks. The timeline depends on how much research is needed, how many people sign off, the number of applications we design and how quickly feedback comes back. A larger rebrand with naming or several sub-brands takes longer, and we set out the schedule in the proposal.

We present a small number of well-developed directions, each with a clear rationale, rather than a wall of unrelated logo options. That keeps the decision about strategy, not personal taste. Once you choose a direction, we refine it together until the logo, colours and typography work as one identity.

Yes. Before sign-off we apply the identity to things you actually use, such as web pages, sales decks, social formats, proposals or signage mock-ups. That shows whether the logo reads at small sizes, whether the colours hold up on screen and in print, and whether the system works outside a presentation slide.

Often, yes, but trademark clearance is legal work. During design we run practical checks for obvious clashes. Before you register with the UK Intellectual Property Office, the final name and mark should be searched and reviewed by a qualified trade mark attorney, especially if you plan to trade in other countries too.

It is time to rebrand when your business has changed but your identity hasn't. Typical signs are a new offer, audience or price point, a company that has outgrown its first look, or teams improvising their own versions of the logo. Simply being tired of the logo is rarely reason enough. A rebrand is also a natural moment to plan a new website design.

You receive the agreed vector and raster formats (typically SVG, PDF and PNG) for every approved logo version, plus colour values in HEX, RGB and CMYK, the brand guidelines and any templates included in the scope. You own the final approved assets. Font and image licences are listed separately, so you know exactly what you can use where.

That's the whole point. Guidelines should make everyday decisions quicker for designers, marketers and sales staff. We structure them around real situations, such as a new slide, a social post or an event banner, so your internal team and outside suppliers can work from the same rules without calling us each time.

Yes, and it's often the most efficient route when both need work. We settle the identity decisions first, then apply them to the website, so the site expresses the brand instead of becoming the place where brand rules get invented on the fly. One team also means one timeline and fewer handovers.

It depends on whether you need a focused visual identity or a broader project with brand strategy, messaging and many applications. We don't publish a fixed price because scope varies so much. Instead we review your current brand in a short call and send a proposal that reflects what actually needs to change, so you're not paying for work you don't need.

Font and image licences are priced separately from the design work, because the cost depends on which typefaces and images are chosen and how many people, websites and channels will use them. Some fonts are free to use, such as many on Google Fonts; others are licensed per user, per website or by traffic. We confirm the licences you need before the project starts, so you know exactly what you own after handover.
