AI visibilityAI visibility
AI visibility is how often ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews name your business when UK buyers ask for a recommendation. We measure it, find out why rivals get picked instead, and fix the facts and sources so you're named and linked.

Companies we've worked with
Sunvale Energy didn't appear when buyers asked ChatGPT for solar installers in Leeds. After new service pages, more reviews and corrected facts, it's named first.
Perplexity always shows its sources. With a page that answers exactly that question, Sunvale's own website became the source the answer was built on.
Gemini couldn't say what Sunvale charges, so buyers moved on. Once prices were published clearly and marked up with structured data, the answer became precise.
AI Overviews sit above the regular results. Now Sunvale is named there, not just further down the page.

We track your visibility in
Good AI visibility means being named in the answers, being described correctly and getting visits from people who are ready to buy. Here's what that can look like over a few months.

We put your customers' questions to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude and Google's AI, and record whether you're named, how you're described and who appears instead.
We find the pages and sources the AI services build their answers from, and which facts about you are missing, outdated or wrong.
We write and structure content that can be quoted, correct facts about you across the web and add structured data to your site.
We ask the same questions every month and report how often you're named, in which AI services and what has changed.
AI visibility is how often, and how accurately, your business appears when someone asks an AI service for advice. When a buyer in Leeds or London asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Claude or Google's AI Overviews which supplier to use, they get one written answer with a handful of names. AI visibility is about being one of them.
Google has shown AI Overviews in the UK since August 2024 and added AI Mode in July 2025. Many searches now end without a click because the answer is already on screen, so even a top Google ranking is worth less if the summary above it recommends someone else.
You'll also hear it called GEO (generative engine optimisation), AEO (answer engine optimisation) or AI search visibility. We call it AI visibility: we measure what AI services say about you, find the sources behind their answers and make sure you're named, described correctly and linked to.
You don't have to choose. GEO builds on the same foundations as SEO, but the goal shifts: being named in the answer, not just ranking in a list of links.

Answers on GEO, ChatGPT, tracking and how we work.
AI visibility is how often and how accurately your business is named when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude or Google's AI Overviews for a recommendation. It covers three things: whether you're mentioned at all, whether what's said about you is right, and whether the answer links to your website so the buyer can act on it.
Broadly, yes. GEO (generative engine optimisation) and AEO (answer engine optimisation) are names for the work of showing up in AI-written answers, and AI search visibility is the result you measure. We use AI visibility as the umbrella term because it describes the outcome a business cares about: being named and recommended, not the label on the method.
Nobody outside the AI companies knows the exact rules, and they differ by service. In practice, answers favour businesses that are mentioned often across sources the model trusts, have clear and consistent facts, and have pages that answer the question directly. An Ahrefs study of around 75,000 brands found brand mentions correlated far more strongly with AI Overview visibility than backlinks did.
The usual reasons are that the sources ChatGPT draws on don't mention you, describe you inconsistently, or that your site doesn't clearly answer the questions buyers ask. Sometimes the site blocks OpenAI's search crawler, OAI-SearchBot, in robots.txt. A baseline measurement shows which of these applies to you, so you fix the real cause rather than guessing.
No. Google says there are no extra technical requirements for appearing in AI Overviews or AI Mode: a page needs to be indexed and eligible to show a snippet, and the usual SEO fundamentals apply. That's why AI visibility work starts with a site Google can crawl and understand, then adds the sources and facts that make you worth citing.
Yes. AI services can quote old prices, the wrong service area or confuse you with a business with a similar name, usually because a source online is out of date. Part of the work is finding those errors, tracing them to the page, directory or profile they come from and correcting them there, so the right version spreads.
AI search is when people ask an AI service such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode for an answer instead of scrolling through a list of links. The service writes one reply and often names a handful of businesses and sources. AI Overviews reached UK searchers in August 2024 and AI Mode followed in July 2025, and AI visibility is about whether your business is one of those names. Read our guide to AI search.
We agree a set of questions with you that reflect how your buyers ask. We put them to the AI services they use, several times, because answers vary, and record whether you're named, where in the answer, what's said and which sources are cited. Then we repeat the same set every month, so you see a trend rather than a one-off snapshot.
ChatGPT, Gemini, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Meta AI, Grok, DeepSeek and Le Chat from Mistral. We weight the report towards the services your buyers use. For most UK businesses that means Google first, since it handles around 91% of UK searches according to StatCounter, followed by ChatGPT and Copilot.
Expect a few months for a clear trend. Services that search the web live, such as Perplexity and ChatGPT with search, can pick up changes within weeks of a page being updated and indexed. What models learned in training changes more slowly. We measure both and show you the movement month by month, so you can judge progress honestly.
Not in the regular answers. Where AI services show ads, they are labelled separately and don't change what the answer itself recommends. Organic mentions in ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity depend on what the models can find and trust about you, which is why the work centres on content, sources and facts rather than ad spend.
No, and be wary of anyone who promises it. AI answers vary from one run to the next and the models change without notice. What we can do is improve the material the models build on, measure the same questions every month and show you plainly how often you're named and whether that's improving.
An AI visibility tool tells you how often you're mentioned; it doesn't change the answer. If you have people in-house to rewrite pages, fix listings and earn mentions, a tool may be enough. If you don't, an agency does the measuring and the fixing. We use tracking tools ourselves and report the numbers, but most of the value is in the work that follows.
Knowledge of your customers and the questions they ask before buying, access to your website and Google Analytics, and someone who can sign off copy. Access to Google Search Console and your Google Business Profile helps too. We handle the rest and send an update every month, with a short call if you want one.
llms.txt is a proposed file that summarises a website for language models. None of the major AI services has confirmed that it influences their answers, so treat it as optional rather than a shortcut. It's quick to add and we include it where it makes sense, but clear pages, consistent facts and third-party mentions matter far more.
It's a strong start, because many AI answers draw on the same pages Google ranks. But AI services also weigh reviews, directories, press coverage and how consistent your details are across them. Plenty of businesses on page one of Google are missing from AI answers for the same question, and a baseline shows whether you're one of them.
If your site has serious technical problems or thin content, fix those first, because both Google and AI services struggle with it. If the foundations are sound, AI visibility work can start straight away and usually strengthens SEO at the same time. We'll tell you honestly which order makes sense, and we can handle both.
Often, yes. Local and niche questions draw on fewer sources, so a small firm with a clear website, an accurate Google Business Profile and genuine reviews can be named ahead of larger competitors. The scope can be modest: a handful of key questions, a few improved pages and tidier listings can make a noticeable difference.
It depends on how many questions and AI services we track, how competitive your sector is and how much content needs writing or fixing. After the first call you get a fixed monthly price in pounds, with no long lock-in, so you know the cost upfront and can stop if it isn't delivering.
Yes. Shoppers ask AI which product, brand or retailer to choose, and the answers usually name a few. Clear product information, honest reviews, structured product data and comparison content make it easier for AI to recommend you. We also check that product pages render without JavaScript, since some AI crawlers can't run it.
Yes. AI answers differ by language and location, so a UK buyer can get different names from a buyer in Sweden or the US for the same question. We measure in each market you sell to, with questions written the way local buyers phrase them. We work in English, Swedish and Norwegian.
Visits from AI services usually appear as referral traffic from domains such as chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, copilot.microsoft.com and gemini.google.com. We set up a channel group or report that collects them in one place, so you can follow sessions, enquiries and sales from AI separately from the rest of your traffic.
Many people read an AI answer, then search your name on Google or type your web address directly, so the visit is credited to branded search or direct traffic instead of AI. Some apps also strip the referrer. That's why we track how often you're named alongside clicks, and watch branded search in Search Console.
How often you're named for each question and AI service, how you're described, which sources are cited, which competitors appear in the same answers, visits and enquiries from AI, and what we've changed since the last report. Each report ends with the next priorities, so you can see what the budget is going on.
